Michelin dining New York
In New York, Brooklyn’s only three-star restaurant is Chef’s Table. It’s an 18-seater that features the cuisine of Chef Cesar Ramirez. There’s a tasting menu of over 20 small-plate courses, most of which center around excellent raw and cooked seafood, predominantly shellfish. The atmosphere is buzzing, but expect to have to dress formally, with a lounge suit needed for men.
Sushi in New York
Sushi lovers will enjoy a trip to Masa, New York temple of all things sushi, in the Time Warner Center. The food is unforgettable and described as a peak culinary experience. Imagine diced, top-grade fatty bluefin tuna tartare cloaked in osetra caviar. Expect to pay handsomely for your indulgence. Masa has a fun, party atmosphere and there’s no strict dress code. Even smart jeans will be acceptable.
Eleven Madison Park
For a truly awesome dining experience, try Eleven Madison Park. Located in the Credit Suisse building, this art-deco restaurant is decidedly different. Your dessert is selected through sleight of hand – your server holds a pack of cards bearing various ingredients. You pick one and a secret compartment opens under your dessert bowl. Inside is a chocolate made from the filling on the card. Then there’s carrot tartare. The waiter grinds the carrot at the table while you choose from various condiments, such as quail’s egg yolk and shaved fresh horseradish.
Eleven Madison Park is widely regarded as the US’ premier restaurant and its approach has been copied all over the country. Although this is the financial district, the atmosphere is never stuffy or pretentious. Dress code? Think elegant casual – no jeans, maybe a sports jacket – and you’ll be fine.
